4th of July

We are so blessed to live in the land of the free, the home of the brave, and in a country founded under God with liberty and justice. Thank you to all the soldiers who fight for our freedoms today and the founding fathers who were divinely instructed to form a more more perfect union. May we stand strong and live free! I love America!
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July with our families. Its a special holiday in both families and for the Barson's its the one time of year the entire family is together. Scott and I have both grown up with special 4th of July traditions so now we get to combine them. Growing up my family always had a picnic on campus, filled up water balloons, set up blankets to watch the fireworks at the stadium, did sparklers and played games. I have so many fun memories of doing that on the BYU practice field every year growing up. Scott's family always had a family breakfast, watched the Provo parade, and watched the same firworks from his Grandparents house also in Provo. The Provo traditions are still alive and this year we ran every which way trying to catch all the adventures and somehow pulled it off. We kicked off Saturday with the yummy Hanks family breakfast at Alicia and Jason's, went boating, Scott tried his new wake skate on the water, then hurried to Kara's for a quick shower, sped to Provo to kick off the Barson Family reunion, ate a yummy dinner, took family photos, got totally drenched in a super fun water fight, and then headed off Stadium of fire with the Hanks. Whew!! What a great day!!

Sunday we continued the Barson reunion by heading to church with the whole family, made lots of food, relaxed and enjoying being together. It was Korinne and Brian's year to plan the reunion and they did a great job. She told us about our family history and how exciting it can be. It was really neat to learn things I never knew about our awesome family.It was so fun to have the whole family here especially when the Barson's come from Florida and McCurdy's from Idaho. We look forward to this every year! Thanks for a great reunion!

Monday was a relaxing day after all the festivities! We enjoyed sleeping in, the hot sun, being together and finally finished off a great weekend with a beautiful ride up Milcreek canyon. Happy 4th of July!!
First time on the wake skate. There are no binding on a wake skate so since it was so windy and wavy it made it pretty tricky but of course Scott pulled it off.
