Tickets and Tears

What happens when you run a red light? Yep-you get a fat ticket!

Scott and I were headed to my parents for Sunday dinner when Scott asked if I wanted to drive. I like driving the truck so I took the wheel of the taco and headed towards the freeway entrance. I made a left turn onto the on ramp thinking the light would stay yellow for a few more seconds. At the very same moment I realized that there was a cop stopped in the next lane over from us. Oh boy...the panic set in. Within seconds I saw the flashing gumballs behind us and my heart sank. Sitting on the side of the road I was REALLY hoping this cop might be generous and give us a break just this once. I have not had a ticket in years and I really didn't want to break that streak. He was a nice cop but apparently not feeling so generous. As he came back up to the window I couldn't even look at him because tears were streaming down my face. I felt absolutely horrible-mostly because this effects not only me but my sweet Scott too. I cried for probably a half-hour because I felt so guilty. Through it all, I must say I have the best husband ever. His response to all of my I'm so sorry's was-"honestly I'm just glad it wasn't me." He was so nice to me about the whole thing and told me not to worry about it-it happens. He got me through the silly tears and got me laughing about it. Now...we get to wait 5 days and see how much I get to pay the great city of Murray. Oh joy!
