Landons first Trax ride |
For our date on Friday we went to check out the new City Creek in downtown Salt Lake City. The evening turned into quite an adventure as do most of our excursions. We decided to take Trax down town so we wouldn't have to pay for parking. Getting on the first train with the stroller was a piece of cake...but the second and older train was a different story. Scott and I tried to lift Landon in the stroller up into the train but the wheels got stuck. The door was beeping and of course everyone was staring at us. The same thing happened while trying to get off to transfer trains so it was all pretty funny. But we made it to City Creek and had fun walking around and checking out some fun stores, talking, and enjoying the evening. On our way out we got a date night treat of Roxberry smoothies and made our way to Trax. Boarding the train was quite a sight yet again but we made it in with the help of some friendly strangers. We had to transfer again so we got off the difficult train( beeping, staring, and the whole bit now for the 4th time). We walked over the the "easy" loading train and tried to board when the grumpy driver said the train is not moving and walked away. Hmmmm...its 8:30 on a Friday night, we have a little boy to get home, and we are stuck. We waiting for that guy to come back from down the street where there were lots of flashing lights to ask him WHY the train is not moving. Turns out, TRAX hit a car so NO trains were going North...or home! Quite a predicament when we were going to have a hungry little boy on our hands pretty quick. It happened to be a rather chilly evening but I wanted to at least start walking while we tried to enlist a rescue party to come take us home. Several phone calls later...nothing. We could not reach our friends or our parents so we kept walking. Scott was being positive and kept saying its ok we'll just keep walking. Its not that far. Afterwords, we realized it literally would have taken us hours to get home. Landon was a champ and just hung out all warm and cozy in his stroller and didn't even mind that it was getting late. Our wonderful friends called back a little while later after noticing several missed calls from us and rushed over to pick us up. The funny part of that was my freezing voice on the phone and explanation of trax hitting a car lead them to believe that we wer in a car with other friends and were hit by a train and we couldn't get home. Quite comical actually! So Tracy sent Andrew right away to come to our rescue and bringing there 1.5 weeks old Little girls car seat for Landon to ride it. Once he picked us up we laughed and apologized for the miss understanding. Good thing we have freakin awesome friends. So...long after our planned arrival time...we made it home in one piece, no smashed car, and stroller in tact. It all made for a great story and we had a super fun date! Scott's famous words of the night. I hate public transportation! =)
