Who knew that the happening in a hospital cafeteria could be so dramatic? I did! This Friday i was really craving an egg salad sandwich since my friend at work had one the day before. So the plan was do just as she did which was buy a slice of bread and a few hard boiled eggs at the salad bar. A bunch of us ventured over to the hospital cafeteria for lunch and I proceeded to start gathering the ingredients for my egg salad sandwich. I got one slice of wheat bread and was standing at the salad bar scooping up some halves of eggs. Surprisingly, the lady behind me had the guts to ask "Are you going to leave any of those for the rest of us?" Oh boy. You should have seen the ridiculous smirk on her face that screamed yep...I totally just said that to you just to be rude. I returned a totally stunned look to her and said "REALLY? This is all I'm having. I'm sure if you go ask somebody they can get you some more eggs" I walked away embarrassed, bugged, annoyed and shocked that some people think that they are entitled to anything and everything even if they don't want it. I'm pretty sure its called a salad bar meaning you get what you want and pay for what you get. I did not take all the eggs and there were plenty left for her to have. Was she really planning on taking every egg that was at the salad bar? Weird!
I soon started meeting back up with my friends from work and told them what happened. Annie, one of the nurses I was with heard what happened and said "That was you? I totally heard that lady say I cant believe she took so many eggs and I wondered why she even cared." All of my friends were dying that this grown women would seriously act like that. To make matters funnier, the girls started talking very loudly to make sure she heard them saying how lame it was that she did that. Oh boy! It seriously got comical as they all jumped in to defend me and we all got dirty looks from across the cafeteria. They all said they would have taken all the eggs just to make her mad. Honestly, that would have been kind of funny but I don't think I could really do that. I surely don't want to stoop to her level of insanity over some eggs. As we left the cafeteria my funny friend Maria yelled down the hallway that I can have as many eggs as I want. Good thing I have friends who will defend me over a bunch of hard boiled eggs.
Next time I think ill bring my own eggs. =)
