EMBARRASSING

Some say there are certain moments in life that shape who we are. Do most embarrassing moments fall into that category? If so, I should be pretty well shaped up by now. The most recent embarrassing moment was at our friends wedding reception where I had a momentary lapse in brain function.

Here are a few of the fun details: Recognized a women across the room and thought it was a friend of my mom's. Approached her, gave her a hug and I asked what she was doing at this reception..."how do you know Allyson??" Received very blank stare from the women and my brain started signaling "error error...abort abort" I started realizing she is not who I thought she was but that I did know her. 'Uh-are you Alyson's mom?" (dig dig) Got blank stares from the women while I'm sure she was thinking- what are you talking about? She then told me she worked with Alyson which is when panic struck and...oh no...that means I used to work with her too.

I soon realized what an crazy person I was and quickly tried to fix my mistake by calling her Stephanie which was the wrong name, tried to cover that up by telling her that "Stephanie" is my moms friend who I though she was at first and it just got worse and worse. In the meantime, Scott was standing next to me wondering if i knew this person and what in the world i was blubbering about! We ended up seeing her several more times throughout the reception and almost had to share an elevator. Thank heavens we didn't! Scott and I got a good laugh all the way home that night joking that we should have told her I fell off my bike that day and hit my head really hard. I'm still trying to laugh about it now even though soon I will have to go spend an hour with her with my mouth wide open in the dentist chair. Oh boy! Life is full of such fun moments!
